Benedictine prior Father Gregoire Lemercier thought he was going mad. So he called in a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist soon sorted him out. Father Lemercier was most impressed. He considered that the benefits of Freudian analysis should be bestowed upon the other monks. called in a woman psychiatrist, Professor Frida Zmud, to 'confront monks with the problems of sexuality'. *he group therapy sessions were a Sreat success. Many monks left and are now ^aPpily married. Those who stayed benefited enormously, according to father Lemercier. Their faith had een greatly strengthened.
